technical courier services

When it comes to choosing the right technical courier service, you might be surprised at the difference in service provided. It is very easy for a standard courier company to say that they will deliver technical equipment, and therefore they can be classed as a technical courier. But then that’s like saying that if you drive a car you can be classed as a racing driver. As you may already be beginning to understand, there is a lot more to providing a technical courier service than meets the eye.

So, how do you know if the technical courier you have chosen is the right company for you? The best thing to do is ask what their procedure is, and their response should make it clear if they fully understand the responsibility that comes with being a technical courier and if they offer you a full service.

So, what should you expect to discover about a technical courier?

A technical courier should ask if you want the equipment installed as well as delivered, and if you confirm you want it installed, you should be asked if there is an installation guide. In addition, you should be asked if there are any specific qualifications required by an installer. From a supplier’s or manufacturer’s point of view, being able to offer delivery and installation is a huge plus and will impress you customers with your ‘after sales service’. If there is no installation guide as such, we would then ask if we could visit you and be shown how to install the equipment. In order for us to organise our teams, we would also ask you how long it would usually take to install the equipment.

choosing the right company

A technical courier should inspect the items for delivery prior to loading them onto the van

While at Distribusha we are fully insured against accidents and damage to transported goods, that doesn’t mean we’re not bothered if anything gets damaged. On the contrary, we make every effort to ensure that everything we deliver is in exactly the same condition to when it was initially collected. To that end, and especially with technical and medical equipment, even before we consider loading anything onto our van, we check to make sure it is not damaged in any way, and that it has been correctly packaged. Technical equipment can be bulky, an unusual shape, and heavy enough to require being put on a pallet for transporting. Simply resting it on a pallet would not be sufficiently safe and we would need to ensure that the equipment has been ‘wrapped’ in film and that film has also secured it to the pallet to stop it from shifting around when in transport. Technical and medical equipment can be critical, and time lost through the delivery of damaged equipment could prove very costly in many ways, while far from enhancing our reputation or the reputation of the supplier/manufacturer.

Finding a technical courier you can trust and rely on

Here at Distribusha, because we are an independent ‘family owned’ business, we enjoy creating long-lasting, established relationships with our clients. This is especially so where technical equipment is concerned as we tend to invest a lot of time getting to know and understand the equipment we deliver for our clients. Part of the reason for this is because, from time to time, we are asked to deliver a spare part on a same-day technical delivery basis, and with that delivery usually comes the request to fit the new part and ensure that the equipment is fully operational and the customer happy before we leave.
